Description : La Región de Antofagasta es una de las quince regiones en las que se encuentra dividido Chile. Limita al norte con la I Región de Tarapacá, al sur con la III Región de Atacama, al este con la República de Bolivia y la República Argentina (en el hito tripartito de Zapaleri) y al oeste con el Océano Pacífico.

Cuenta con una superficie de 126.049,1 km² y una población estimada al año 2006 de 547.933 habitantes. La región está compuesta por las provincias de Antofagasta, El Loa y Tocopilla, siendo la capital regional el puerto de Antofagasta.
